Veterans Affairs Canada hosts the Canadian Virtual War Memorial, containing a searchable index of over 116,000 Canadian soldiers who gave their lives in two world wars, the Korean War and in Peace Keeping missions and military conflicts since.
This website contains a wealth of information on the 28th Battalion which was part of the Canadian 2nd Division during World War One. George Humphrey Dayman, son of Humphrey and Kezia Dayman, was with the 28th when he was killed in action at Iwuy France in the final month of the war. It is interesting (and very sad) to note that the very last soldier killed in action during the war, at 3 minutes before 11 on November 11th 1918, was Private George L. Price who was also a member of the 28th. An additional fact - George Price fell very near the spot where the first Allied battle casualty occurred, and he is buried in the same graveyard with the British soldier who was recorded as the earliest casualty of the war in August 1914.
